2013 Fishing Reports

Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2013-11-02

Offshore

North to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots, increasing to 15 to 20 knots in the afternoon and to 20 to 25 knots in the evening. The Swell will be increasing during the afternoon, so get out early for your last chance, before the weather blows up. Nice snapper to 7kg and pearl perch to 3.5kg from the Barwon Banks. Sweetlip, small snapper and parrot from the gneerings. School and spotty mackerel and a few long tail tuna from the close in reefs off Mooloolaba and Caloundra. Trout, cod and sweetlip from Sunshine Reef.

Estuary's

Noosa: Bream, flathead and whiting around the Noosa River mouth. Flathead, bream and whiting in Weyba Creek. Good flathead along the Tewantin reach. School jew, jacks and threadfin Salmon between the lakes.

Maroochydore: Plenty of mangrove jack taken in the middle-upper river and creeks. Some good whiting up to 35cm around the Bli Bli Islands, with smaller fish coming from the lower river. Flathead from Bli Bli and the creek mouths.

Kawana: Bream in the lower reaches of the Mooloolah River. Trevally feed along the rock walls in the lower river and from McKenzies Bridge. Jack in the canals and mud crabs in the deep holes in the upper reaches. Whiting from the yabbie banks in middle river.

Caloundra: Flathead on live bait and a few bream at night along the Boardwalk. Plenty of flathead in the northern end of the passage. Some good whiting on popper from the mouth of Bells. Jacks in Bells and Coochin Creek and Pelican Waters.

Snapper Fish n Crab Murphys

The Crew onboard Fish n Crab Charters caught plenty of pan sized snapper from Murphy's Reef on a recent 7 hr trip.

Easterly 10 to 15 knots turning northeasterly in the afternoon. It's shaping up to be ideal conditions throughout the weekend, so ready the boats for a good session. Mitch Bow Trev Cod hole Soft Plastics

Mitch Bow landed this nice size Trevally using soft plastics at the Cod Hole earlier in the week.

Tate Snapper week ending 30-10-13

Tate and his mate fished the banks over night on Top Catch Charters for solid snapper to 7kg this week when the winds allowed them to get out.

With decreasing southeasterly winds and a dropping seas, conditions are starting to improve for offshore anglers through the day and will be great by the weekend.

Noosa: Bream, flathead and whiting around the Noosa River mouth, along with trevally and a few tailor in Woods Bay and Weyba Creek. Good flathead along the Tewantin reach. It' s worth a try for jew and mangrove jack and mud crabs between Lakes.

Maroochydore: Mangrove jack taken in the upper river and creeks. Some good whiting up to 35cm around the Bli Bli Islands. Plenty of flathead ranging from 45cm to over sized released fish between the river mouth and Bli Bli.

Kawana: There's bream in the lower reaches of the Mooloolah River, particularly around the moorings and jetty's. Trevally feed along the rock walls in the lower river, mangrove jack in the canals and mud crabs in the deep holes in the upper reaches.

Caloundra: Flathead on live bait and a few bream at night along the Boardwalk. Plenty of average flathead in the northern end of the passage. Some good whiting on the banks at Happy Valley. Jacks in Bells and Coochin Creek and Pelican Waters.

Jayden Sells Brad Wallace Chambers Whiting

Jayden Sells and Brad Wallace were fishing from Chambers Island on Tuesday with herring and prawn when they caught this nice trevally and several whiting.

Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2013-10-29

Offshore

North to northwesterly 15 to 25 knots tending west to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots in the morning then shifting southeasterly 15 to 25 knots in the middle of the day. Wind could drop out a bit between the changes. But it looks like another day to stay in the sheltered estuaries and chase a few flathead or mangrove jack. Conditions are looking more promising for the weekend , so get your tackle organized and be ready to go!

Top Catch Sweetlip Banks 15-10-13

Before the windy conditions the crews on Top Catch Charters, took home a few good sweetlip off Caloundra!
