Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2013-11-12

Offshore

Northeasterly 10 to 15 knots. Similar conditions tomorrow as well, with the sea breeze increasing in the afternoon. There have been good snapper, Cobia, Jew and spotty and spanish mackerel on local reefs.

Estuary's:

Noosa: Flathead throughout the Noosa River and in Weyba Creek, trevally and tailor on top of the tide in Woods Bay. Try for jew, jacks and the odd threadfin Salmon between the lakes.

Maroochydore: A few tailor, trevally and sand crabs in the lower reaches, whiting in the canals, mangrove jack at dawn and dusk in the mid to upper reaches particularly at Bli Bli and flathead and school jew along the Bli Bli reach. Schools of herring have been moving throughout the lower river on the daily tide

Kawana: Try for dart, flathead, whiting and bream on the beaches. A few trevally feed along the rock walls and from McKenzies Bridge area. Jack in the canals and mud crabs in the deep holes in the upper reaches. Whiting from the yabbie banks in middle river.

Caloundra: Sand crabs in the passage. Plenty of reasonable flathead in the northern end of the passage at present. Some good whiting off the sand banks in the top end of the passage. Try for mangrove jack in Bells and Coochin Creek and try in Pelican Waters canals

Michael Aaron Tailor Chambers Island

Young fellow's Aaron and Michael were fishing off the Chambers Is Bridge this week for a mixed bag, including a nice tailor!

Local Fishing Report: Monday 2013-11-11

Offshore

Northeasterly 15 to 20 knots. The northerly sea breeze later will not give the most ideal conditions for offshore, but it might be worth a look tomorrow morning with only North easterly's to 10 to 15 knots. There have been good snapper, Cobia, Jew and spotty and spanish mackerel on local reefs.

Estuary's:

Noosa: Flathead throughout the Noosa River and in Weyba Creek, trevally and tailor on top of the tide in Woods Bay. Also tarpon and jew in the evenings and whiting during the day at the Noosa River mouth. Try for jew, jacks and the odd threadfin Salmon between the lakes.

Caloundra: Sand crabs in the passage. Bream and trevally off the boardwalk. Plenty of reasonable flathead in the northern end of the passage at present. Some good whiting off the sand banks in the top end of the passage. Jacks in Bells and Coochin Creek and try in Pelican Waters canals

Andy Gunn does it again with a couple of Cobia taken on local reefs recently.

Offshore

Northeasterly 10 to 15 knots. May be okay early but the northerly sea breeze later will not give the most ideal conditions for offshore, however, there's been big snapper and Cobia of Double Island Point, snapper to 7kg from the Banks. Jew fish from Murphy's and Coolum Reefs. Spotty and spanish mackerel at North Reef and Currimundi.

Estuary's:

Also tarpon and jew in the evenings and whiting during the day at the Noosa River mouth. Flathead, bream and whiting in Weyba Creek. Good flathead along the Tewantin reach. Trout Banks Fishcrab

The crews on Fish n Crab, Deep Sea Charters got into a few coral trout on a recent charter to the Banks!

North to northwesterly 15 to 25 knots tending north to northeasterly 15 to 20 knots in the late morning and early afternoon, with seas 1.5 to 2 metres, decreasing below 1.5 metres during the morning.. So not the most ideal conditions for offshore, however, there's been big snapper and Cobia of Double Island Point, snapper to 7kg from the Banks. Jew fish from Murphy's and Coolum Reefs. Spotty and spanish mackerel at North Reef and Currimundi.

Rob Stokes caught and released several school flathead keeping this 50 cm fish for the table!

Local Fishing Report: Friday 2013-11-08

Offshore

Northerly 15 to 20 knots, increasing to 20 to 25 knots in the evening. Seas around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 2 metres around midday. Big snapper and Cobia of Double Island Point. Big snapper to 7kg from the Banks. Jew fish from Murphy's and Coolum Reefs. Plenty of spotty mackerel from Currimundi.

Estuary's:

Noosa: Tarpon, jew and flathead in the evenings and bream, flathead and whiting during the day at the Noosa River mouth. Flathead, bream and whiting in Weyba Creek. Good flathead along the Tewantin reach. School jew, jacks and threadfin Salmon between the lakes.

Maroochydore: Plenty of school flathead yesterday on soft plastics around Bli Bli. Schools of herring have been moving throughout the lower river on the daily tide. Sand crabs in the lower river. Mangrove jack in the middle-upper river and creeks. Some good whiting around the Bli Bli Islands, with smaller fish coming from the lower river. Flathead from Bli Bli and the creek mouths.

Kawana: Bream in the lower reaches of the Mooloolah River. A few trevally feed along the rock walls in the lower river and from McKenzies Bridge. Jack in the canals and mud crabs in the deep holes in the upper reaches. Whiting from the yabbie banks in middle river.

Caloundra: Sand crabs in the passage. Bream and trevally off the boardwalk. Plenty of flathead in the northern end of the passage. Some good whiting on from the mouth of Bells. Jacks in Bells and Coochin Creek and Pelican Waters.

Donna Wilson Paul Randall 55cm Dusky

Donna Wilson and Paul Randall were fishing on a hire boat in the Maroochy River when they caught this 55cm dusky flathead.
