Local Fishing Report: Wednesday 2018-11-14


Looks like workable to good offshore conditions for the next few days and hopefully lighter winds right through the weekend as well as winds today will be southeasterly 10 to 15 knots turning east to northeasterly in the late morning and early afternoon with seas, around 1 metre. Tomorrow, conditions with winds east to northeasterly about 10 knots increasing with a bit of sea breeze to 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon then decreasing to about 10 knots during the evening with seas below 1 metre. North and Chardon's Reefs has had tusk fish, spangled emperor, pearl perch, snapper, grass emperor and gold spot cod. Snapper, coral trout, moses perch and maori cod from Sunshine Reef. Snapper, cobia, as well as good yellow tail kingfish, long tail tuna, tusk fish from the Gneerings and Caloundra Wide. Snapper, pearl perch, cobia, jew and tusk fish from the Barwon Banks. While Double Island Point has had red emperor, spangled emperor, cobia, gold spot cod, tusk fish and snapper.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Good flathead, few grunter bream and bream from the river mouth. Flathead, trevally, jacks and whiting in Woods Bays. Mud crabs pretty well throughout all the systems and in Noosa Waters Canal.

Maroochydore: Golden and giant trevally and jew released recently around the motorway bridge pylons. Flathead to 60cm from Chambers Island and Picnic Point. Cod, bream, grunter and tailor from Bli Bli. Whiting from Minti Street and the north shore. It's worth putting the crab pots and try your luck for a few keeper mud crabs.

Mooloolaba: Bream, golden trevally and gar from the boat moorings. Whiting and flathead from La Balsa Sand basin. cod, flathead and bream from the Twin Bridges. Whiting from the entrance to Mountain Creek. Mud crabs in the canals and middle river.

Caloundra: Grunter bream, bream, flathead and trevally from the creeks that feed into the Pumicestone Passage. The Flathead, whiting and bream from Golden Beach. Trevally, mud crabs and a few mangrove jack in the creeks that flow into the Passage.
