Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2018-02-20

Offshore

Winds will be southeasterly at 10 to 15 knots, increasing to 15 to 20 knots through the morning. Winds reaching up to 25 knots in the afternoon and evening. Seas are 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1 to 2 metres offshore south of Maroochydore, with 1.5 -2m of swell.

Estuaries and Beaches

Noosa: Golden Trevally from Munna Point. Trevally and jacks in Woods Bays. Quality Whiting on stick baits in the lower river. Flathead and grunter from along Tewantin stretch. Mangrove from Weyba Creek, behind the Sheraton and under Munna Bridge. Good mud crabs throughout the upper river.

Maroochydore: Trevally, school jew, bream and flathead from the mouth of Eudlo Creek. Mangrove jack around structures and snaggy areas throughout the river and in the creeks. Several Whiting up to 38cm predominantly in the lower river on surface lures and worms. Trevally from Twin Waters, cod hole and the ski run. Mud crabs in the middle reaches of the river. A few reports of nice sand crabs in the lower reaches and around Channel and Goat Island.

Mooloolaba: Good bream and golden and giant trevally from around the boat moorings and local jetties. Cod, trevally, whiting and flathead from La Balsa Basin. Mangrove jack and cod around structure in the canals and Parrearra Channel. Mud crabs throughout the river.

Caloundra: Whiting, bream, trevally and mangrove jack in Currimundi Lake. Flathead and golden trevally off the boardwalk. Whiting and bream from the NW point of Bribie. Muddies are moving around the creek and canal entrances.
