Workable conditions as the day progresses but choppy early with winds east to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots, reaching up to 20 knots offshore north of Maroochydore early in the morning. Winds decreasing to about 10 knots in the morning and seas 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing to 1 metre during the morning. Tomorrow okay with a some choppy conditions with winds east to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots tending north to northeasterly during the evening and seas below 1 metre. Amberjack and yellowtail king on micro jigs around the Mooloolaba Blinker. Kingfish, snapper, sweetlip, Spanish and school mackerel and tuna off Coolum, the Gneering Shoals and Old Woman Island, yellowtail king off Point Cartwright Tusk fish and sweetlip from Murphy’s Reef. Big bream, grass sweetlip and small snapper from Old Women Island. Cougar One fished Chardon's Reef for squire, moses perch, pearl perch, Maori cod and jewfish. Trekka 2 crews fished The Hards for amberjack, snapper, pearl perch, moses perch and coronation trout.
Noosa: It will be worth fishing the beaches for dart and whiting. A 79cm flathead was caught and released the Frying Pan area on Monday's Noosa River Fishing Safari. A few jack caught in the sound and big golden trevally feeding around the Sheraton Bridge. There a few good whiting feeding on top of the tide at the Noosa River mouth. Bream in the deep holes around the Frying Pan and Tewantin Marina. Mangrove jack and mud crabs close to the mangroves between Lakes Cooroibah and Cootharaba.
Maroochydore: Still plenty of bait fish in the lower river. Flathead 60 to 86cm caught and released at the Bli Bli Bridge and the Cod Hole areas and estuary cod in Eudlo Creek. Try for chopper tailor to 50cm, hair tail, mangrove jack and trevally to 2.4kg from the Cod Hole. Reports of a few jack defending their territory in the upper reaches and up Petrie Creek. Reports of several full buck mud crabs in the middle to upper reaches.
Kawana: Worth fishing for dart and whiting along Kawana Beach. There’s trevally on the incoming tide along the rock walls at the Mooloolah River mouth. Flathead upstream from McKenzies Bridge and mangrove jack and trevally around the bridge pylons and trawler moorings. Flathead 68cm and try for mangrove jack and whiting in Mountain Creek and mud crabs in the deep holes in the canals.
Caloundra: Flathead in the Blue Hole and at the entrances to all the creeks that feed into the passage. Whiting to 35cm opposite Bells Creek and along Golden Beach. Jew, mangrove jack showing up in the creeks and bigger bream at night in the deeper holes of the northern passage. Trevally and jacks in Pelican Waters. Mud crabs in Coochin Creek and up the canals.
