Offshore

More choppy and uncomfortable sea breezes conditions today with winds northerly 15 to 20 knots with seas 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing to 1 metre during the morning, then increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the afternoon. May be okay for larger vessels bot winds around 20 knots are not fun. Better conditions forecast for tomorrow with north to northwesterly 10 to 15 knots turning northeasterly during the afternoon and seas around 1 metre. Snapper, tusk fish, pearl perch and cobia from the Hards. On Sunshine Reef, there’s coral trout, squire, grass sweetlip and pearl perch. Mackerel. Rat kingfish, snapper, sweetlip and tuna off Coolum. Tusk fish and sweetlip from Murphy’s Reef. Big bream, grass sweetlip and small snapper from Old Women Island.

Estuaries

Noosa: Several good fish including a 95, 75 and 65cm flathead were caught and released in the Frying Pan and lower river recently. A 48cm jack caught in the sound and big golden trevally feeding around the Sheraton Bridge. There a few good whiting feeding on top of the tide at the Noosa River mouth. Bream in the deep holes around the Frying Pan and Tewantin Marina. Try for flathead, moses perch and Jacks in Weyba Creek.

Maroochydore: Tailor and a few tailortaken in the Cod Hole. Flathead 60 to 86cm caught and released at the Bli Bli Bridge. Chopper tailor, hair tail and trevally from the Cod Hole. Jack in the upper reaches, in the canals and up Petrie Creek. Flathead, eastuary copd and jacks in Eudlo Creek. Mud crabs in the middle to upper reaches.

Kawana: The northerly sea breeze makes it tough to fish the beaches. Trevally at dawn and dusk along the rock walls at the Mooloolah River. Jack to 52cm, flathead 68cm and Cod in Parrearra Channel and around the twin bridge. Bream and trevally around the boat moorings. Mangrove jack and whiting in Mountain Creek. Bream and flathead in the Basin and mud crabs in the deep holes in the canals.

Caloundra: Quality flathead in the 50 to 60 cm range, in the Blue Hole and at the entrance to Coochin Creek. Whiting opposite Bells Creek and along Golden Beach. Jew, mangrove jack showing up in the creeks and bigger bream at night in the deeper holes of the northern passage. Trevally and jacks in Pelican Waters. Mud crabs in Coochin Creek and up the canals.
