Local Fishing Report: Monday 2016-10-31

Tonight’s New Moon Phase will have the fish feeding well into this week. Choppy conditions today with winds northerly 15 to 20 knots turning northwesterly in the evening and seas 1.5 metres. Looking like great conditions tomorrow particularly close in with northwesterly 10 to 15 knots becoming variable about 10 knots during the day then becoming west to northwesterly 10 to 15 knots during the evening with seas around 1 metre, decreasing below 1 metre during the afternoon. Cougar One fished Chardon's Reef yesterday for squire, moses perch, pearl perch, Maori cod and jewfish. Trekka 2 crews fished The Hards again on Saturday for amberjack, snapper, pearl perch, moses perch and coronation trout. And recently out at The Banks  for snapper, quality amberjack, pearlies, moses perch, tuskies, mulloway, trag jew and hussar. Also caught a tailor closer in that was just under 70cm. On Sunshine Reef, there’s coral trout, squire, grass sweetlip and pearl perch. Mackerel. Rat kingfish, snapper, sweetlip and tuna off Coolum. Tusk fish and sweetlip from Murphy’s Reef. Big bream, grass sweetlip and small snapper from Old Women Island.

Noosa: It will be worth fishing the beaches for dart and whiting. Several good flathead up to 80cm caught and released in the Frying Pan and lower river recently. A few feisty jack caught in the sound and big golden trevally feeding around the Sheraton Bridge. There a few good whiting feeding on top of the tide at the Noosa River mouth. Bream in the deep holes around the Frying Pan and Tewantin Marina. Try for flathead, moses perch and Jack in Weyba Creek.

Chopper tailor, hair tail, mangrove jack and trevally from the Cod Hole. Reports of a few jack defending their territory in the upper reaches and up Petrie Creek. Flathead and estuary cod in Eudlo Creek. Reports of several full buck mud crabs in the middle to upper reaches.

Kawana: Worth fishing the beaches early for dart, whiting and flathead ahead of the choppy seabreeze. Trevally at dawn and dusk along the rock walls at the Mooloolah River. Jack to 52cm, flathead 68cm and Cod in Parrearra Channel and around the twin bridge. Bream and trevally around the boat moorings. Mangrove jack and whiting in Mountain Creek. Bream and flathead in the Basin and mud crabs in the deep holes in the canals.

Whiting to 35cm opposite Bells Creek and along Golden Beach. Jew, mangrove jack showing up in the creeks and bigger bream at night in the deeper holes of the northern passage.
