Local Fishing Report: Thursday 2015-11-26

Offshore

Conditions will choppy to rough in the afternoon, with winds Northerly 15 to 20 knots, increasing to 20 to 25 knots in the afternoon and evening. Seas 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres during the afternoon. Recently, North Reef's had cobia , good snapper and gold spot cod. Barwon Banks has had snapper, moses perch, jewfish, cobia, venus tusk fish, mowong, spangled emperor, hussar and mahi mahi. A few quality mahi mahi North Reef and Sunshine Reef. North Reef's had pearl perch and sweetlip and Chardons Reef has had good catches of jew. The crews on Top Catch Charters have taken good cobia and sweetlip and the odd red emperor from the 9 Mile and Murphies reef's as well as a 65cm sweetlip from Currimundi.

Estuaries

Noosa: The Full Moon phase today will have the fish feeding, worth a try for jew and mangrove jack. Mangrove jack, a 59cm fish was caught and released in the lower estuary. There's been plenty of good flathead, bream, whiting and trevally at the Noosa River mouth and along the Noosaville reach. In Weyba Creek a 72cm flathead was caught and released and as well a few quality sand crabs, bream and a few quality whiting have been taken. Mangrove jack and threadfin salmon in between the lakes..

Maroochydore: Still plenty of herring bait fish throughout the lower river. Whiting and bream around Chambers Island. A few good flathead, mangrove jack and jew at night in the Cod Hole. Several good catches of mangrove jack in the Cod Hole, Petrie creek, Bli Bli and Dunethin Rock. Flathead and bream from the mouth of Eudlo Creek. Whiting and bream from Picnic Point. Mud crab in Eudlo creek, Bli Bli reach and the upper river and a few reasonable sand crabs in the lower reaches.

Kawana: Dart and whiting along the beaches, trevally along the rock walls at the Mooloolah River mouth. Trevally, bream to 35cm and gar from the boat mooring and in the Kawana canals. Flathead and whiting in the sand basin and trevally around Minyama Island. Trevally and flathead from Mountain Creek. Mangrove jack in the middle river and in Mountain Creek in and around the bridge pylons and snaggy banks.

Caloundra: Flathead and mulloway inside Caloundra Bar. Trevally on live bait around Military Jetty and the Boardwalk. Good flathead with some over the maximum size released and trevally from Military jetty area. Trevally and quality mangrove jack around the rock bars, bridge pylons and pontoons, showing up in the canals and creeks that feed into the passage. Catches of sand crabs in the passage and muddies in the creeks.
