Local Fishing Report: Sunday 2015-11-29

Offshore

Conditions should be okay particularly early, with winds northerly about 10 knots increasing to 15 to 20 knots in the middle of the day. Seas below 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres around midday. At Sunshine Reef yesterday there were quality cobia, coral trout and a good sweetlip. All fish were caught on either pillies or squid. Karl's catch was on a paternoster rig. My catcThe crews on Top catch Charters landed a few spotty mackerel and yellow tail king around Murphy's Reef. North Reef's had couple of nice Maori cod yesterday and cobia , good snapper and gold spot cod. Trekka 2 fished The Coffees on Wednesday morning and came back with squire, snapper, pearl perch and venus tusk fish. Barwon Banks has had snapper, moses perch, jewfish, cobia, venus tusk fish, mowong, spangled emperor, hussar and mahi mahi. A North Reef's had pearl perch and sweetlip and Chardons Reef has had good catches of jew.

Estuaries

Noosa: Mangrove jack, a 59cm fish was caught and released and 46cm mangrove jack was taken on a Berkley Gulp soft plastic up around Tewantin yesterday morning. An 85cm flathead was caught and released in the Woods Bay on Thursday. There's been plenty of good flathead, bream, whiting and trevally at the Noosa River mouth and along the Noosaville reach. In Weyba Creek theres quality flathead and a few quality sand crabs. Mangrove jack and threadfin salmon in between the lakes.

Maroochydore: Herring bait fish throughout the lower river. Whiting and bream around Chambers Island. A few good flathead, mangrove jack and jew at night in the Cod Hole. Several good catches of mangrove jack in the Cod Hole, Petrie creek and Bli Bli. Flathead and bream from the mouth of Eudlo Creek. Whiting and bream from Picnic Point. Mud crab in Eudlo creek, Bli Bli reach and the upper river and sand crabs in the lower reaches.

Kawana: Trevally along the rock walls River mouth. Trevally, bream to 35cm and gar from the boat mooring and in the Kawana canals. A few big flathead and whiting in the sand basin and trevally around Minyama Island. Trevally and flathead from Mountain Creek. Mangrove jack in the middle river and in Mountain Creek in and around the bridge pylons and snaggy banks.

Caloundra: Dart, bream and flathead along the beaches as well as trevally and queenfish on the Happy Valley side of the Bar. Whiting off Golden Beach and Bells Creek mouth, flathead along the drop offs and jew in the deeper holes in the Passage, mangrove jack around the bridge pylons and rock walls and trevally in the canals.
