Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2015-01-10

Offshore

Good offshore conditions in the morning as winds are easterly 10 to 15 knots, increasing to 15 to 20 knots in the evening. Seas around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 meters by early evening. Good catches of cobia from North Reef. Good snapper on the Inner Gneerings, and along with maori cod, mahi mahi. The spotty mackerel and Spanish mackerel are feeding right along the coast off Currimundi, Caloundra 12 mile, Coolum and at Sunshine Reef.  Coral trout off Caloundra 9Mile. Red throat emperor at Barwon Banks. Murphy's produced good hussar, moses perch, mulloway and cobia.

Estuaries

Noosa: Flathead to 60cm, whiting and trevally at the Noosa River mouth and Frying Pan. Also mangrove jack to 3kg and bream in Weyba Creek, the Tewantin reach. Bream, flathead, moses perch and mangrove jack along the Noosaville reach and in Weyba Creek. Mud crabs in the upper reaches and bream, flathead and school jew along the Tewantin reach.

Maroochydore: Mangrove jack and a few barra feeding in the Cod Hole and Petrie Creek over night. Plenty of trevally feeding on the top of the tide up to 60cm, and the odd tailor between the Cod Hole and Chambers Island during the day. Mangrove jack, bream and flathead in the Petrie creek. Good sand whiting in the lower river on worm and small poppers. A few good mud crabs in the upper reaches.

Kawana: Dart and bream on the southern side of Pt Cartwright and south of the Surf Club. Bream to 34cm around the boat mooring and La Balsa park. Golden trevally to 5kg from La Balsa Park boat ramp. Mangrove jack in Montain Creek. Sand crabs in the lower river and mud crabs in the canals.

Caloundra: Whiting, jacks and trevally in Currimundi lake. Trevally, whiting and dart along Currimundi Beach and inside the Caloundra bar. Whiting opposite the Power Boat Club and at Bells Creek mouth and mangrove jack and trevally in the creeks and canals. Bream and flathead along the Boardwalk area. Sand crabs throughout the passage.
