Local Fishing Report: Friday 2015-09-04


Still need to stay in sheltered waters and close in bays with southwesterly 15 to 25 knots turning southeasterly 15 to 20 knots in the late evening. Seas 1.5 to 2.5 metres. Looking better saturday with south to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots tending east to southeasterly below 10 knots during the morning. There's been schools of big yellowfin tuna 19.5kg at North Reef as well as squire, goat fish, pearl perch, venus tusk fish and moses perch. Chardon's Reef have had venus tusk fish, hussar, pearl perch and cobia. Double Island had quality jew, yellowtail kingfish, cobia, gold spot cod, pearl perch, gold band snapper. There's been pearl perch, snapper tusk fish, gold spotted wrasse, hussar and amberjack on the Barwon Banks and at Caloundra Wide. Snapper, sweetlip and amberjack at Caloundra 12 Mile, snapper at Currimundi Reef and Bray Rock, snapper at Caloundra 9 Mile and school mackerel on the Inner Gneerings.


Noosa: There's a few bigger tailer being caught along Teewah beach. Try for grass sweetlip, tailor and small snapper off the National park rocks. Good whiting and a 65cm flathead at the river mouth and a 64cm flathead caught and released in Weyba Creek. There's jew and cale cale in the lower river as well. Plenty of bream in the deep holes and around structure throughout the River. Trevally and solid flathead in Woods Bay and flathead. Threadfin salmon was caught and released in the upper reaches.

Maroochydore: There's been dart and tailor in the gutters at Mudjimba. Trevally, good flathead and tailor along Oyster Bank Road. Bream, trevally, and a few chopper tailor feeding and flathead between the Cod Hole and Chambers Island. Flathead from the creek mouths and Bli Bli. Whiting from the lower river sand around Bli Bli. Mud crabs in the middle river.

Kawana: Tailor, bream and jew overnight along Kawana Beach and school mackerel off the rocks at Point Cartwright. Still a few good bream and golden trevally from the moorings, rock walls and lower river with better quality fish over night and dawn and dusk. Flathead, bream and gar in the Basin and flathead, bream and school jew in the canals. Trevally and flathead in Mountain Creek reach.

Caloundra: Chopper tailor and flathead and bream at night at the northern end of Bribie Island. Whiting at the mouth of Coochin and Bells Creeks and it is worth trying for luderick along the Boardwalk and school jew near Pelican Waters Bridge. Flathead along the drop offs in the Passage and bream around Military and the Coastguard Jetties.
