Local Fishing Report: Saturday 2013-11-23


Northerly 10 to 15 knots turning north to northeasterly 15 to 20 knots during the day, with seas below 1m. School and spotty mackerel, big gold spot cod to 7kg and sweetlip from Caloundra 9 mile. Spotty and school mackerel from currimundi and the NW fairway beacon. Jew out wide of North Reef. Snapper, sweetlip, red throat, cobia and trout from Sunshine and spotty mackerel in Laguna bay. Snapper, cod and pearl perch from Wide Caloundra.


Noosa: Trevally have been taken at the car park rocks at the river mouth. Whiting, flathead and school jew from the lower river. Flathead throughout the Noosa River and in Weyba Creek. Try for jacks and the odd threadfin between the lakes.

Maroochydore: Dart, bream, and a few good sized dusky flathead in the surf between Mudjimba and Mount Coolum. Good flathead in the lower river. Whiting to 30cm off Chambers Island. Mangrove jack at dawn and dusk around the rock bars, snags and bridge pylons throughout the upper river. School sized duskies in the middle river.

Kawana: Bream off the beach at kawana and flathead and whiting at Wurtulla. Trevally, jacks and cod around McKenzies Bridge area. A few sand crabs in the lower river. Jack in the canals and mud crabs in the deep holes in the upper reaches. Whiting in Mountain Creek reach. Bream and trevally form the moorings.

Caloundra: Jacks, flathead and trevally in Coochin Creek. Whiting and flathead around Military Jetty. Sand crabs in the channels. Flathead on the drop offs in the northern end of the passage. Mangrove jack in the canals.
