Noosa: Pearl perch and snapper from North Reef. Big schools of trevally and tailor around the Frying Pan and in Woods Bays at night. Jacks between the lakes and near the Sheraton and up around the lakes. Flathead in Weyba Creek and between the lakes.
Maroochydore: Mangrove jacks in the upper reaches, from the Cod Hole and in the South Channel of the Maroochy River. Trevally and bream from Dunethin Rock. Tailor on in the evening around the sand bags and cod hole. Crabs in the canals. Flathead between Eudlo Creek mouth and Bli Bli.
Kawana: School mackerel at Caloundra 5 mile. Mixed reef fish, cobia and amberjack from the 12 mile. Whiting in Kawana Waters canal and from the sand basin near the mouth. Mangrove jacks in the upper reaches on live bait at night. Giant and golden trevally along La Balsa wall. Whiting and dart along Kawana Beach.
Caloundra: Jew off the from the rocks at Happy Valley. Whiting, sand crabs and tailor from the bar on the incoming tide. Whiting on the flats just out from the Power boat club. Trevally on soft plastics in Pelican Waters. Jacks in the creeks and canals around structure.
Karl Brennen was fishing with mullet from the Banyanda Tower jetty in the southern channel when he laid into this 57cm (2.6kg) mangrove jack.
