Local Fishing Report: Saturday 29/10/2011

Noosa: Pearl perch and snapper from North Reef. Big schools of trevally and tailor around the Frying Pan and in Woods Bays at night. Jacks between the lakes and near the Sheraton and up around the lakes on hardy body lures. Flathead in Weyba Creek and between the lakes. Trevally on herring in the Tewantin channel.

Maroochydore:  Mangrove jacks in the upper reaches, from the Cod Hole and a 2.3kg fish was taken Friday night off the Banyanda Towers jetty in the South Channel of the Maroochy River. Whiting on yabbies and worms from the entrance of Maroochy waters canals and around the dredge and around Goat and Channel Island. Tarpon and trevally to 2kg from Dunethin Rock. Trevally on trolled Rapala Crankin raps between Bli Bli bridge and the wetland reserve on the high tide.

Kawana: Cobia to 7.5kg, snapper and Maori cod to 2.6kg from the 12 mile. Coral trout to 4.6kg from the Blinker. Whiting in Kawana Waters canal and from the sand basin near the mouth. Mangrove jacks in the upper reaches on live bait at night. Giant and golden trevally along La Balsa wall. Whiting and dart along Kawana Beach.  

Caloundra: Snapper, pearl perch and cobia from Caloundra 12 mile. Whiting, sand crabs and tailor from the bar on the incoming tide. Whiting on poppers and live worms on the flats just out from the Power boat club.  Trevally on soft plastics in Pelican Waters. Jacks in the creeks and canals around structure.     


Diesel and Levi were fishing with their family on the North Shore on Saturday morning when they caught a few nice whiting on live worms.
