Local Fishing Report: Sunday 09/10/2011

Noosa: Local reefs, and in the bay there’s a few sweetlip, snapper around the 2.5 and 3kg as well as tuna. Dart, bream, flathead and chopper tailor have been caught on pilchards along Teewah Beach. Trevally in Woods Bays. A few decent mud crabs in the upper reaches.

Maroochydore: Trevally caught on soft plastics, live baits and pilchards around the Cod hole. There has been heaps of flathead up to 80cm and several catches in the 60 to 70cm range, have been caught and released from the Cod Hole and the lower river around the islands and Cotton Tree. Big whiting and bream from the entrance of Maroochy waters canals, close to the dredge and around the islands through to the river mouth.

Kawana: Still good snapper and sweetlip on local reefs. Trevally, flathead and bream on soft plastics and blades on the top of the tide in the Canal systems. Bream and whiting around 30cms on surface lures during dawn and dusk on the flats above McKenzie bridge and up Mountain Creek.

Caloundra: A few nice snapper around the 3kg range at the Caloundra 9 and 12 Mile reefs. Also try for flathead, with some around the maximum size limit of 75cm and chopper tailor from the Boardwalk and off the tip of Bribie. Queenfish and bream in Pelican waters canals. Put the crab pots out in the creeks and try for some mud crabs.
