Local Fishing Report: Monday 02/05/2011

Noosa: School jew along Tewantin on live bait. Flathead, whiting and plenty of bream around the mouth through to the Frying pan. Chopper tailor from the Frying Pan. A few trevally around the Sheraton bridge. Mud crabs between the lakes.

 

Maroochydore: Tailor from Marcoola beach. School Jew between Bli Bli bridge and the cod hole on the high tide on 4inch soft plastics. Flathead around 60cm were caught from the mouth of Petrie creek. Trevally around Channel Island on poopers during the incoming tide. Grunter bream in the upper reaches. Mud crabs in the upper reaches.

 

Kawana: Dart, whiting and bream along Warana beach. Trevally and tailor from the rock walls. Trevally and a few bream from Kawana lakes on surface lures in the late afternoon. Plenty of prawns throughout the river system. Sand crabs in the lower reaches.

 

Caloundra: The mouth of Coochin creek has had grunter, whiting and flathead. School jew in Pelican waters canal. Whiting on live worms in the lower reaches. Good size flathead from the Bar on the incoming tide. Mud cabs around the upper reaches.

This uncommon Stargazer weighing 5.5kg was caught by Harry Bowtel in the lower reaches of the Maroochy river.
