LOCAL FISHING REPORT Wednesday February 9, 2011
Noosa: Jacks from Noosa sound. Bream on plastics in the canals. Flathead and a few whiting from the mouth and Weyba creek. Trevally, good numbers of mangrove jack and jew fish on the high tide in Woods Bay. Mud crabs from the Tewantin stretch and in Weyba creek.
Maroochydore: Snapper to 3.3kg and red throat emperor from Old Women Island and the Inner Gneerings. Good numbers of bream and flathead in Maroochy waters canals on the incoming tide.. Flathead and bream throughout the lower reaches. Mud crabs from above Bli Bli bridge.
Kawana: Spaniards on Murphy’s reef. Snapper, cobia, spangled emperor, pearl perch and coral trout from Caloundra 12 mile. Flathead, bream, tarwhine and whiting along the beach. Bream and trevally on the high tide around the boat moorings and along La Balsa park.
Caloundra: Sweetlip from the rocks at Caloundra point. Grunter bream have been feeding along the weed banks throughout the passage. Queenfish and the occasional trevally from the Boardwalk. Trevally, mangrove jack and bream in the canals. School jew at the entrance to Bells Creek on the turn of the tide.
