LOCAL FISHING REPORT Friday February 4, 2011

Noosa: Spanish mackerel, snapper and trag jew from Sunshine reef. Bream and flathead on the making tide near the Noosaville stretch. Trevally and mangrove jack on the high tide in Woods Bay. Mud crabs from the Tewantin stretch and in Weyba creek.

 

Maroochydore: With the good numbers of herring moving into the river quality catches of trevally, bream to 40cm, mangrove jack to 2kg and flathead have been taken throughout the river. A few tailor around 40cm have been caught from Chambers at night. Flathead up to 75cm have been caught and released from the mouth.

Kawana: Spanish mackerel and yellowtail kingfish from Murphy’s. Grass sweetlip and parrot from the Outer Gneerings. Flathead, bream, tarwhine and whiting along the beach. Sand whiting up to 39cm upstream of Mckenzie’s bridge.

Caloundra: Small black marlin, sailfish and Mahi Mahi from Caloundra 10 mile. Flathead and grunter bream from Bulcock beach. Mangrove jack, flathead and bream from Currimundi lakes. A few whiting from Golden beach. Trevally, mangrove jack and bream in the canals on soft plastics and live bait. Mud crabs throughout the passage.

With the humid days the Jack’s have been firing up and Burnsey landed this 1.9kg Jack at the Cod Hole.
