LOCAL FISHING REPORT Thursday February 3, 2011
Noosa: Spanish mackerel, snapper and trag jew from Sunshine reef. Trevally and mangrove jack on the high tide in Woods Bay. Flathead and whiting from the mouth to the Frying pan. Mud crabs from the Tewantin stretch and in Weyba creek.
Maroochydore: With the good numbers of herring moving into the river quality catches of trevally, bream to 40cm, mangrove jack to 2kg and flathead have been taken throughout the river. Flathead up to 75cm have been caught and released from the mouth.
Kawana: Trevally, bream and a few grass sweetlip from the rock walls at dawn. Flathead, whiting and a few bream from McKenzie bridge. Mangrove jacks and trevally in Lake Kawana and throughout the back ends of the canals on hard body lures.
Caloundra: Estuary cod and grunter bream from Military jetty. Mangrove jack, flathead and bream from Currimundi lakes. A few whiting and flathead from the mouth of Bells creek. Trevally, mangrove jack and bream in the canals on soft plastics and live bait. Mud crabs throughout the passage.
