LOCAL FISHING REPORT Wednesday February 2, 2011

 

Noosa: Trevally on the high tide in Woods Bay along with the occasional mangrove jack. Large numbers of flathead and a few whiting from the mouth. Dart and Tarwhine along North shore. Mud crabs from the Tewantin stretch and in Weyba creek.

Maroochydore: Plenty of Herring on the top of the tide which are being smashed by trevally, bream and flathead. Mangrove jack up to 2kg in Petrie Creek, the Cod Hole and above Bli Bli bridge. Flathead up to 75cm have been caught and released from the mouth. Mud crabs in good numbers above Bli Bli bridge.

Kawana: Trevally and a few grass sweetlip from the rock walls at dawn. Trevally, bream and whiting from La Balsa park. Flathead and a few bream from McKenzie bridge. Mangrove jacks and trevally in Lake Kawana and throughout the back ends of the canals.

Caloundra: Estuary cod and grunter bream from Military jetty. Mangrove Jacks from Coochin creek on live herring . A few whiting and flathead from the mouth of Bells creek. Trevally and bream in the canals on soft plastics along with a few jacks. Mud crabs throughout the passage.
