Local Fishing Report: Tuesday 2013-12-31

Offshore

New Years Day is looking good with east to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots tending east to northeasterly in the evening, seas, 1 to 1.5 metres, decreasing below 1 metre during the morning. A few Spanish mackerel, Mahi Mahi on Sunshine Reef and mulloway on North Reef. There have been good pearl perch, snapper, tuskfish, moses perch, cod and mahi mahi on North Reef and snapper, tuskfish, coral trout and spotty mackerel on Sunshine Reef. Sweetlip and spotty mackerel at Old Woman Island.

Estuaries

Noosa: Bream, some big flathead with one released at 90cm, trevally, tailor and jew at Noosa River mouth and in Woods Bay, with bream, the odd tailor, and moses perch in Weyba Creek. Try for flathead and bream along the Noosaville reach. Jack to 50cm and flathead between the lakes.

Maroochydore: Yesterday there were good catches of bream to 1.2kg in the Cod Hole. Flathead, bream and tarwhine in the deep holes along the beaches. Flathead and whiting around Channel Island, bream and the odd tailor at the Cod Hole, try for flathead, grunter, bream and mangrove jack along the Bli Bli reach, mangrove jack to 49cm in Petrie Creek and mud crabs in the mid to upper reaches of the Maroochy River.

Kawana: Dart and whiting along the beaches. Bream and a few reasonable trevally feeding around the mooring. Jacks in the in Kawana Waters and around the bridges in Currimundi Lake. Whiting in Mountain Creek reach. A few crabs in canal systems and lower river.

Caloundra: Whiting in the top end of the passage opposite the power boat club and off the banks near Military Jetty, along Golden Beach stretch. Mangrove jack in Bell's Creek, Pelican Waters and up Coochin Creek. Crabs south of Bells creek in the deeper water.

Offshore

Tuesday is looking good with variable about 10 knots becoming northwest to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots before dawn then tending east to southeasterly in the late afternoon with seas below 1 metre. Strong Wind Warning for Monday for Sunshine Coast Waters. North to northwesterly 15 to 25 knots shifting southeasterly before dawn then tending easterly 10 to 15 knots in the evening. Winds reaching up to 30 knots inshore early in the morning. However there have been good pearl perch, snapper, tuskfish, moses perch, cod and mahi mahi on North Reef and snapper, tuskfish, coral trout and spotty mackerel on Sunshine Reef. Sweetlip and spotty mackerel at Old Woman Island.

Offshore

Northerly 15 to 20 knots. Seas around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres during the morning. Pearl perch, snapper, tuskfish, moses perch, cod and mahi mahi on North Reef and snapper, tuskfish, coral trout and spotty mackerel on Sunshine Reef. Sweetlip and spotty mackerel at Old Woman Island and pearl perch, tuskfish, red throat sweetlip, banana fish' mahi mahi and gold spotted wrasse on the Barwon Banks.

Estuary's:

Noosa: A few tailor over night along Teewah beach. Bream, flathead, trevally, tailor and jew at Noosa River mouth, bream, flathead, whiting and trevally in Woods Bay, bream, the odd tailor, estuary cod and moses perch in Weyba Creek> Try for flathead and bream along the Noosaville reach. Jacks and flathead between the lakes. Tailor, hairtail and trevally in Woods Bay.

Maroochydore: Flathead, bream and tarwhine in the deep holes along Mudjimba and Marcoola Beaches. Flathead and whiting around Channel Island, bream and tailor at the Cod Hole, flathead, grunter bream and mangrove jack along the Bli Bli reach, mangrove jack to 49cm in Petrie Creek and mud crabs in the mid to upper reaches of the Maroochy River.

Local Fishing Report: Friday 2013-12-27

Offshore

Variable about 10 knots becoming northeasterly 15 to 20 knots in the middle of the day then tending northerly in the late evening, with seas below 1 metre. Spanish spotty and school mackerel off Caloundra, the Blinker, Coolum and Sunshine Reef. Cobia and snapper on North Reef. Snapper moses perch and venus tusk from the Coffees. Pearl perch to 2kg and snapper to 3kg form the 9 mile. Snapper, Wahoo, tuskfish to 2kg and perch perch from the banks.

Estuary's:

Noosa: A few tailor over night along Teewah beach and in the lower river. Trevally and a some big flathead from River mouth and frying pan area. Whiting from the Frying pan and Munna Point. Mangrove jack to 58cm in the Noosa Marina, bream to 40cm along Gympie Terrace and whiting in Weyba Creek. Jacks and flathead between the lakes. Tailor, hairtail and trevally in Woods Bay.

Maroochydore: A few chopper tailor and bream in the Cod Hole yesterday. Flathead and jacks from Bli Bli. Big elbow slapper whiting on the banks in the lower river on yabbies and worms. Muddies in the middle river and Maroochy canals. Trevally, whiting and flathead from Cotton Tree.

Kawana: Dart and whiting along the beaches. Bream and a few reasonable trevally feeding around the mooring. Jacks in the in Kawana Waters and around the bridges in Currimundi Lake. Whiting in Mountain Creek reach. A few crabs in canal systems and lower river.

Caloundra: Dart and whiting along Currimundi beach. Whiting in the top end of the passage like off the banks near Military Jetty, along Golden Beach stretch and in lake Currimundi. Mangrove jack in Bell's Creek, Pelican Waters and up Coochin Creek. Crabs south of Bells creek in the deeper water.
